PHYLLIS (KOZAK) PASTUSHYN

RICEVILLE, IOWA - Phyllis (Kozak) Pastushyn, 68, of Riceville, died Thursday (May 6, 1999) at the Riceville Community Rest Home.

Funeral Mass of Resurrection will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Riceville, with the Rev. John Moser officiating. Burial will be at St. Michaels Cemetery in Paletine, Illinois.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the Lindstrom Funeral Home in Riceville, with a 5 p.m. rosary and a 7 p.m. scripture service.

Phyllis was born in rural Nora Springs on July 23, 1930, daughter of Dorothy Theadora Kozak. She attended Riceville rural schools and, when the family moved to Illinois, attended Dixon, Ill. schools. She graduated from Amboy Township High School in 1949. Theodore and Katherine Kozak raised Phyllis after her mother died.

She was united in marriage to Wolodymyr Walter Pastushyn on June 15, 1954, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Chicago. She was a homemaker. To her friends and family, she was lovingly known as "Aunt Phyllis."

She is survived by two uncles, John Kozak and his wife, Betty, of Riceville, and Boris Kozak of Northfield, Minn.; one aunt, Helen Huiesman and her husband, Howard, of Gainesville, Fla.; and a special cousin, Rex Kozak and his wife, Bonnie, of Klemme; and many other cousins.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband, her mother and her grandparents.
