ELMER "BUCK" HEDRICK

NORA SPRINGS, IOWA - Elmer "Buck" Hedrick, 67, of 1091 130th St., died Thursday (May 6, 1999) at Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 8, at Fullerton Funeral Home, 123 Second St. SE, Mason City. Interment will follow in the Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery, with military rites conducted by the Mason City Memorial Association.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Fullerton Funeral Home.

Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to direct memorials to the Elmer Hedrick Memorial Fund.

Elmer was born January 3, 1932, the son of James and Letha (Jump) Hedrick, in Mason City. On Jan. 20, 1950, Elmer was inducted into the United States Air Force. During his tour with the 6200th Food Service Squadron, he earned the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He served his country until his honorable discharge on Feb. 10, 1954.

On Aug. 6, 1960, Elmer was united in marriage to Faye Miller in New Richland, Minnesota.

He was employed at Mason City Iron and Metal until he retired in 1991.

Elmer was member of the Moose Lodge No. 1328 and a life member of the San Juan-Marne VFW Post No. 733. He was also in the pool league for many years here in Mason City. Elmer could be found working outside, repairing and tinkering on different things, tending to the numerous animals he raised or enjoying his grandchildren.

Those thankful for having shared Elmer's life include one daughter, Deb and her husband, Bill Schuver, of Eureka, Illinois; three sons, Dan and his wife, Lynn Hedrick, of Plymouth, Dave and his wife, Anne Hedrick, of Ankeny, and Dennis and his wife, Marnie Hedrick, of Lincoln, Neb.; two sisters, Marjorie and her husband, Dick Rasmussen, of Mason City, and Dorothy and her husband, Don Bailey, of Mason City; one brother, Paul and his wife, Shirley Hedrick, of Mason City; eight grandchildren, Jennie Eft, Jessica Schuver, Dusty, Lissa, Ryan, Andrew, Brittany and Sydney Hedrick; two sisters-in-law, Leili and Freda Hedrick of Mason City; and many nieces and nephews.

Elmer was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Faye, in 1990; one infant son, Bruce; three sisters, Cleatus, Betty and Bonnie; and three brothers, Harold, Donny and Lee Hedrick.
