Funeral Services held for
Prominent Charles Cityan

J. O. Hughes Had Been
in Construction Work
for 35 year Period

CHARLES CITY, IOWA — The funeral of J. O. Hughes, prominent Charles City resident, took place at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon from the Grossman Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were J. C. Campbell, Harry Rosenkrans, Fred Ebert. Grover Blunt, Lou Niemann. and Charles Snyder. The Rev. DeLong of the First Methodist church gave the funeral sermon, and Earl Stuart, organist, furnished the music.

A resident of Charles City since 1912, Mr. Hughes had spent 35 years as a contractor, architect and builder. In recent years he had not engaged in active business. He was the builder and owner of the Hughes apartments in Charles City.

Mr. Hughes is survived by his widow, a son, Clarence E. Hughes of Madison, Wisconsin; a daughter, Mrs. L. J. Garms of Cleveland, Ohio; and two grandchildren, Dudley Hughes of Madison and Ellen Louise Garms of Cleveland.

Interment was in Riverside Cemetery in Charles City.
