ABRAHAM JUDD

Mr. Abraham Judd was born in the state of Indiana on April 2, 1841, and died at his home in Marble Rock on August 25, 1922, at the age of 81 years, 4 months and 21 days.

In 1856 he came to the state of Iowa with his parents and has resided in the community of Marble Rock most of the intervening years. Coming here in those early days he endured with others the hardships of life.

When the war of the rebellion broke out he enlisted in Company C of the 12th Iowa Regiment in which he served during the war, suffering the hardships and discharging the duties of a soldier faithfully in that great struggle.

He was married to Miss Anna Locher at Waterloo, Iowa, January 30. 1969 To them were born seven children, five of whom have preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife, two daughters, and twelve grandchildren. The daughters are
Mrs. Nellie Cheever of Hibbing, Minnesota, and Mrs. Pearl Denny of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He is also survived by two brothers and two sisters.

Mr. Judd has been in poor health for a long time. His decline in health has been slow and was attended with great suffering. All that medical skill and kindly care could do for him was done. The end came about 5 o'clock on Friday morning.

The funeral service was held at the M. E. church at 2 p.m. Sunday, August 27, 1922. The only two Civil War veterans remaining in Marble Rock were in attendance — Will Comstock and W. D. Farrington. The coffin was borne by the following American Legion men, in uniform: Joseph Wood, Albert Ward, Judd Ritter, Jay Holcomb, Lewis Staudt, and John Brown. Music was furnished by Ralph Walster, Raymond Reis, Mrs. Patricia Bredt, and Mrs. Mary Barber.

Interment was in the East Side Cemetery.
