Joseph Albrecht, Sr. Passes Away Tuesday

Funeral Services Will Held Saturday

Joe Albrecht, Sr., 82 years old, passed away at Cedar Valley Hospital in Charles City, Iowa, last evening at 7:00 o'clock following on operation for a stomach disorder which he underwent Monday morning. He had not been feeling well for the greater part of the summer and during the past two months had suffered considerable pain. After a thorough examination of his condition he submitted to an operation and passed the ordeal very satisfactorily, but because of his age and a weakened condition his body could not withstand the shock.

Mr. Albrecht was born in Bavaria, Germany, on February 17, 1856, and with his parents came to America when 17 years of age, his first residence being Dane, Wisconsin.

He was united in marriage to Miss Catherine Holstein on July 2, 1879, at Dane, Wis. 46 years
ago they came to this community, first residing on a farm in Floyd county northwest of Greene, and for the past twenty-five years they have been continuous residents of Greene.

Eleven children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Albrecht; two of which, Joseph, Jr., at the age of 5, and Allie, at the age of 25, preceded the father in death.

Surviving children are: George, Mrs. Frank De Mar, Joseph Thomas, and Bertha, all of Greene;
Mrs. Wm. Noss, Rockford; John, Roseville, Calif.; Matt and Mrs. Frank Smith, Sacramento, Calif.

Funeral services will be held in the Catholic church Saturday morning. His children residing in
California will all be present. Interment in St. Mary's Cemetery.
