James W. Mars

ROCKFORD, IOWA — James W. Mars, 72, of Rockford, died Saturday, December 6, 1997, at the Nora Springs Care Center.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Rockford United Methodist Church with the Rev. Rosemary Rhode-Frank officiating.

There will be a memorial service at 7:30 p.m. today at the Schumburg Funeral Home, Rockford, with the family present.

James was born October 29, 1925, in Aurora, Colorado.

Survivors include his wife, Bertha, of Rockford; one son, Byron Mars, of Newport News, Virginia; a daughter, Mardell Reit, of Charles City; one brother, John Mars, of Prescott, Arizona; one stepson, Roger Berk, of Evansville, Wisconsin; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife.
