CHARLES CITY, IOWA — Funeral services for Lucille M. Heuer, 71, of 204 Brantingham, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Greene, with Pastor Lance Kittleson officiating. Burial will be in the South Vilmar Cemetery, rural Greene.

Visitation will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Reid’s Funeral Chapel in Greene, where there will be a public scripture service at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will continue Tuesday at the church one hour before services.

Lucille Matilda Heuer was born June 9, 1926, in rural Dayton Township, Butler County, a daughter of Edward and Wilhelmina (Schrage) Heuer, and died Saturday (Nov. 29, 1997) at the Ninth Street Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City.

She received her education in the rural Dayton Township Schools and later at the Greene Public Schools. She was employed by the Greene Produce Company, Dralle’s Department Store, and the Variety Store, before moving to Charles City in 1965. She was employed by Townsend Cleaners in Charles City for many years and also cared for the elderly.

Lucille enjoyed the special times with her nieces and nephews, visiting friends, sightseeing and working on crafts. She was baptized on July 4, 1926, at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church at Vilmar, and confirmed a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church on May 12, 1940.

Living family members include her brother, Alfred, and his wife, Anna Heuer, of Allison; two sisters; Mylinda Moser of Des Moines, and Lorena Landers of Greene; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, William Heuer; and two sisters, Ella Landers and Leona Landers.

Those planning an expression of sympathy may direct memorials to the Lucille Heuer Memorial Fund in care of the family.
