Ann M. Hume, 82, of Charles City, died Friday morning, March 12, 2010, at the 9th Street Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City.

Pastor David Werges will officiate at the services on Wednesday. Inurnment will be at a later date in Riverside Cemetery in Charles City.

The family will greet friends from 10 a.m. until service time at the church on Wednesday.

Ann Mae Mackamul was born November 18, 1927, in Colwell, the daughter of Nickolaus and Mae Elizabeth (Bill) Mackamul. She graduated from the Charles City Community School. Ann was a lifelong resident of Charles City where she met and married Robert “Roy” Hume on September 1, 1946, at the Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Charles City. She began working for Salsbury Laboratories in 1954 and retired in 1992. Ann was a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary, Aid Circle of Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church and served as treasurer of the Senior Center for many years. Her interests included sewing, baking and actively volunteered her time and talents.

Living family members include her daughters, Marcia (Jack) Taylor of Marble Rock and Cynthia (Lee) Chambers of Robins; four grandchildren, Michael (Gina) Taylor, Wendy (John) Dearth, Pamela (Ronn) Datema and Robert (Jill) Chambers; a great grandson, Douglas Taylor; brother, George (Peg) Mackamul; several aunts; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two brothers, Lester Mackamul and Joe Mackamul; and a sister, Delores Swinton.

A special thank you to Dr. Schrodt and to the Mason City Mercy Cancer Center, doctors and staff for their many months of exceptional care and also to the staff and friends at Port Charles Assisted Living and 9th Street Chautauqua Guest Home.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church or Charles City Senior Center.
