John LeRoy Paulsen

NORA SPRINGS, IOWA - John LeRoy Paulsen, 55, of 121 S. Hawkeye, Nora Springs, died Wednesday (Oct. 11, 1995) at home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Christian Church, 102 N. Hawkeye, with the Rev. David Jones officiating. Burial will be in Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held after 4 p.m. Sunday at Sheckler Colonial Chapel, 114 N. Hawkeye, and one hour prior to services at the church Monday. Memorials may be given to the John LeRoy Paulsen memorial fund.

John was born on March 20, 1940, in Floyd County, a son of Christian Paulsen and Elda Paulsen (nee) Lee. He married Dixie Smith on Oct. 24, 1958, in Mason City. John and Dixie made their home in Nora Springs. He worked at Jacob E. Decker and Sons for 23 years, and later drove motor homes for five years. He also farmed with his father-in-law for several years.

Survivors include three daughters, Vickey Bailey and Barbara Fransen, both of Nora Springs, and Carol Paulsen of Arlington, Minn.; three sons, Gordon Paulsen and his wife, Laurie, of Lakeville, Minn.; Douglas Paulsen and his wife, LaJeana, and Dan Paulsen and his wife Jessica, all of Nora Springs; seven grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; father-in-law, George Smith of Nora Springs; three brothers, William Paulsen and his wife, Shirley, of Green Isle, Minn.; Robert Paulsen and his wife, Norma, of Plymouth, and DuWayne Paulsen and his wife, Lynette, of Rockford; and one sister, Connie Stienlicht of Mason City.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Christian and Elda; his wife, Dixie; one daughter, Brenda Paulsen; and one son, Johnny (Jr.) Paulsen.
