Frank Kafer rites Wednesday at Charles City
CHARLES CITY, IOWA — Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Grossmann-Hage Funeral Home with burial in Riverside Cemetery, for Frank Kafer, 69. He died Monday at the Cedar Valley Hospital where he had been a patient since May 18. Death was attributed to a stroke.
Born in Elkport, June 6, 1891 he was the son of Anton and Katherine Frommer Kafer.
On March 15, 1928, in Sumner, he was married to Florence Nissen. For a number of years he owned and operated a blacksmith shop on Clark Street. He later was employed by the Oliver Corporation as a black smith for 12 years.
Survivors include his wife, a brother Paul Kafer, Littleport and a sister, Mrs. Lona Wiley, Waterloo.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and four brothers.
