GREENE, IOWA - Patricia Ann Tefft was born on Sept. 20, 1929, in Charles City, the daughter of William and Nancy Harvey Warrington and died on Sunday, Jan. 17, 2010, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the United Methodist Church in Greene, with Pastor Judy Wooton, of Marble Rock UMC presiding. Interment will be at Rose Hill Cemetery, Greene. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today, Tuesday, at Reid's Funeral Chapel, Greene, and one hour prior to services at the church.

She received her education at Charles City High School, graduating in 1948. On March 11, 1949, she was united in marriage to James Edward Tefft at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. This union was blessed with three daughters. James and Patricia celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary before her husband's passing in 2008. In 1949, Patricia and James started farming the family farm near Nashua. In 1961 she moved to Greene, where James was an independent truck driver. She resided in Greene until 2007 when she entered the Nora Springs Care Center in Nora Springs.

Patricia was a dedicated employee of the Floyd County Memorial Hospital for 41 years as an aide and was the very first ward clerk the hospital had. She especially enjoyed her service there, working with employees and assisting the patients. Patricia was a member of the First Methodist Church of Greene and was active in church circles and enjoyed helping with activities there.

Patricia had a special love for her home in Greene, her yard, and flowers. She enjoyed being outside tending it and walking her beloved dog, Runner. She will be remembered by her family as a good cook, preparing delicious holiday meals with holiday traditions such as piņatas at Christmas and Easter egg hunts. She was an avid supporter of her grandchildren and their many activities. "Grandma Pat" was always there for them.

Living family members include three daughters, Nancy (Steve) Simerson, of Charles City, Jeanette (Johnny) Brezina, of Papillion, Neb., Mary Jane (Dennis) Ross, of Greene; seven grandchildren: Jeffrey Ross, of Waverly, Jeremey Simerson, of Nashua, Patrick Ross, of Oakdale, Minn., Jason Brezina of Omaha, Neb., Stacie Merta, of Marion, Michael Ross, of Clarksville, and Joey Brezina, of Omaha, Neb.; eight great-grandchildren, Kyra Ross, Erika Ross, Olivia Ross, Bridget Ross, Chloe Ross, Rex Ross, Avery Merta, and Aiden Merta; one sister-in-law, Patricia McGregor, of Nashua; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Patricia was preceded in death by husband, James in 2008; her parents, one brother, Dale Warrington; one sister, Mercedes Kay; and one brother-in-law, Malcolm McGregor.

Those planning an expression of sympathy may direct memorials to the Patricia Tefft Memorial Fund in care of the family at 600 Third Ave., Charles City, Iowa.

Funeral services have been entrusted to Reid's Funeral Chapel, Greene, 641-823-4457.
