Charles City Woman Dies at Age of 95

CHARLES CITY, IOWA — Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2 p. m., at the Hauser Funeral home for Mrs. Sarah Jane Waller, member of a pioneer Charles City family and a resident of Charles City for 45 years, who died Monday at the home of a son, Elmer J. Waller, 704 North Jackson street. She was 95 years old.

Rev. Harold W. Putney, pastor of the First Congregational church, will officiate and burial will be in Riverside cemetery.

Mrs. Waller had been in failing health since suffering a hip fracture in a fall three years ago.

She was a member of the Congregational Church and a life member of the Eastern Star.

Her husband died in 1926. A daughter also preceded her in death.

The former Sarah Jane Jackson, Mrs. Waller was born to George and Rachael Jackson Apr. 7, 1853, at Hemmingford, Quebec, Canada. She came with her parents to this community when she was 16.

On May 26, 1875, she was married to Theophilus Waller at Greene.

In addition to the son at whose home she died, Mrs. Waller is survived by another son, Martie Walter, Charles City, and three daughters, Mrs. Nelle Brown, Chicago; Mrs. Marie Imus, Los Angeles, Cal., and Mrs. Bessie Smith, Charles City; two brothers, Albert Jackson, Pomona, Cal., and Alfred Jackson, Mitchell, S. D.; a sister, Mrs. Gene Hooker, Long Beach,
Cal.; 11 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
