CHARLES CITY, IOWA - Eldon C. Park, 103, of Charles City passed away on Wednesday, (February 13, 2008) at the Ninth Street Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 18, 2008, at Fullerton-Hage Funeral Home, 401 Blunt St., in Charles City, with Rev. Dennis Bachman of the First Wesleyan Church in Charles City officiating. Interment will be in the Riverside Cemetery in Charles City.

Those wishing to extend memorials or expressions of sympathy may direct them to the family, in care of Eldon’s wife, Marles Park, 105 Cedar Terrace North, Charles City, IA 50616. The family will greet relatives and friends from 2:00 until 5:00 p.m. Sunday at the Fullerton-Hage Funeral Home, 401 Blunt St. in Charles City.

Eldon Claude Park was born October 10, 1904, in Charles City, Iowa, to Richard and Clara (Schucknecht) Park. He received his education in Charles City, Iowa at the McKindly school.

On November 5, 1938 Eldon was united in marriage to Marles M. Eygabroad in New Hampton, Iowa. Eldon worked at the Hildreth Hotel up until the time it had burned down. He was also employed at the St. Charles Hotel until the tornado in 1968. He had worked for 32 years, retiring in 1968. His leisure time was spent rooting on the Chicago Cubs baseball team, watching TV and working. Eldon will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.

Those grateful for having had the privilege of sharing in Eldon’s life are his wife of 69 years, Marles M. Park of Charles City; his two sons, Kenneth E. (Roberta) Park of Golden, CO and Virgil D. (Virginia) Park of Rowan, Iowa; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. As well as other relatives and friends that survive him.

Eldon was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Ruth Park, Eva Fern Park, Anita Park and Clara Trevett and one brother, Percy Edgar Park.
