Marvin “Mike” Lien, 78, of Charles City, Floyd county, died Wednesday, August 22, 2007, at his residence.

Marvin Edward Lien was born February 7, 1929, in Blooming Prairie, Minnesota, the son of Edward and Lula (Rowbotham) Lien. He graduated in 1947 from the Blooming Prairie High School. Mike served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.

On June 25th 1955, he was united in marriage to Eileen Madden at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church in Austin, Minnesota. He worked for Oliver/White Farm Equipment Company retiring in 1984.

He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and a life long member of the Knights of Columbus and V.F.W. Mike looked forward to playing cards and pool and woodworking. He enjoyed going on road trips with his friends. Mike also delivered Meals on Wheels. Time spent with his family was always very important to Mike.

Living family members include his wife, Eileen of Charles City; a son, Michael (Wendy) Lien of Waterloo, Iowa; three grandchildren, Jessica and Christopher Lien and Kurtis Culbert; three sisters, Ginger Cashman of Blooming Prairie, Minnesota, Leota Dugstad of Lake City, Minnesota, and Betty (Richard) Johnson of Austin, Minnesota; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers-in-law, Jack Cashman and Earl Dugstad.

CHARLES CITY, Iowa - Marvin "Mike" Lien, 78, of Charles City, died Wednesday, August 22, 2007, at his residence.

A funeral Mass for Mike Lien will be held 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Monsignor Stanley Hayek will celebrate the Mass. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. There will be a flag presentation by the Charles City Ceremonial Unit. Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday where there will be a Vigil Scriptural Wake Service at 7 p.m. followed with the Knights of Columbus reciting the Rosary.
