Mardelle L. Parsons

CHARLES CITY, IOWA - Mardelle L. Parsons, 90, of 110 Maple Ave. in Charles City, died Friday, (August 17, 2007) at the Floyd County Memorial Hospital in Charles City.

Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, (August 22, 2007) at the Fullerton-Hage Funeral Home, 401 Blunt St. in Charles City with Pastor Gary Van Wert of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Charles City. A gathering of family and friends will be one hour prior to services Wednesday at the funeral home. Cremation has taken place with Cremation Services of North Iowa in Mason City in the care of Fullerton Funeral Home.

Mardelle L. (Reynolds) Parsons was born August 22, 1916 in Niles Township, Floyd County, Iowa to Lorenzo and Viva (Lohuis) Reynolds. Mardelle had lived all of her life in Floyd County most of it in Charles City. She attended and graduated from the Charles City High School, class of 1934. She was united in marriage to Alden C. Parsons of Allison, IA on August 29, 1940. Mardelle had worked for F.W. Woolworth Co. starting in 1936. She had also worked at the Ben Franklin Store in Charles City and Townsend Electric and Cleaners in New Hampton and Charles City. Mardelle was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Charles City. She had been a 50 year member of the former Wa-Tan-Ye Club, a 50 year member of the Women of the Moose and a member of the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary, all in Charles City. Friends had always been an important part of her life along with her family. She always enjoyed tending to her garden flowers of Tulips, Iris and Peanies, working outdoors, playing cards, cooking and visiting with family and friends.

Grateful for having had the privilege of sharing in Mardelle’s life are her niece, Joan Denton; great niece, Jolee Schlea and her husband, Kirk of Gravel Switch, KY; three great-great nephews, Lauren, Aaron and Dane; great-great niece Grace Joan; as well as step nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lorenzo and Viva; her husband, Alden C. Parsons on June 15, 1982; step mother, Mary; a sister, Hazel Momberg; a brother at birth and a nephew, Vaughn.
