CHARLES CITY, IOWA - Donald B. Russell, 93, of 1106 Kelly St. in Charles City died on Wednesday, (July 25, 2007) at the Floyd County Memorial Hospital in Charles City.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, (July 28, 2007) at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 106 Chapel Lane, in Charles City, with Msgr. Fr. Stanley J. Hayek presiding. Interment will be in the Calvary Cemetery in Charles City.

Those wishing to extend memorials or expressions of sympathy may direct them to the Immaculate Conception Catholic School, 106 Chapel Lane, Charles City, IA 50616. Condolences, stories or thoughts may be sent to the family in the care of Fullerton Funeral Home on line at www.fullertonfh.com .

The family will greet friends and relatives from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. Friday at the Fullerton-Hage Funeral Home, 401 Blunt St. in Charles City. The scripture wake service will be held at 630 p.m. The visitation will continue on Saturday at the church, one hour prior to “Don’s” service.

Donald Burdell Russell was born July 6, 1914 in Mason City, IA, to Elmer E. and Cloe A. (McGowan) Russell. He attended school in Mason City, graduating in 1932. Don furthered his education attending Hamilton College in Mason City.

On September 19, 1936 Don was united in marriage to Ruth L. Cooksie in Mason City. Don and Ruth moved to Charles City in 1948. He worked for 27 years as a Car Salesman at Bissonnette Chevrolet in Charles City, retiring in 1980.

Don was as a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council #1419, Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #1011, all in Charles City.

Don enjoyed talking about automobiles and anything automotive. His leisure activities and interests included fishing, music and baseball. Don will be best remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and great- grandfather. Don was a man who was generous and had a special place in his heart for all children.

Don is survived by his two daughters, Ann (John) Wiggins of Minneapolis, MN and Mary Beth (Steve) Page of Mason City; eleven grandchildren, Ellen, Eric, Ethan, Emily, Edee, Andrea, Amy, Julie, Brandon, Bryce and Brock; sixteen great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Joyce Russell of Charles City and special “little” neighborhood friend, Bryanna Stephens of Charles City.

Don was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ruth L. Russell on November 27, 1986; two sons, Charles and Richard Russell; two grandsons, Jeff Russell and and Everett Wiggins; one sister, Marie Buckland and two brothers, Robert and Mervel Russell.
