Nancy Jo McWilliams

Nancy Jo McWilliams, 67, of Palm Springs, California, passed away Thursday, November 12, 2009 unexpectedly at her home. Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M., Friday, November 20, 2009, at Reid’s Funeral Chapel, Greene, with Pastor Tom Poppe presiding. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery, Greene. Visitation will be 5:00 – 7:00 P.M., Thursday, November 19, 2009, at Reid’s Funeral Chapel.

Nancy Jo McWilliams was born April 14, 1942 in Charles City, a daughter of J. Floyd and Margaret Mae (Shultz) Needham. She was raised in Greene and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. In 1958 Nancy Jo graduated from Greene High School.

Nancy Jo was united in marriage with Gary McWilliams on July 17, 2002.

Nancy Jo was an avid animal lover and a people person. She is remembered as a people person who never knew a stranger, she was very helpful and generous with her self and time. Her family and friends were very important to Nancy, even though she lived far away she stayed in touch and remained a central part of her family.

Nancy Jo is survived by her husband, Gary, Palm Springs, California; step-children: Jon (Renee) McWilliams and their children: Erin & Taylor, Maple Grove, Minnesota; Jayne (David) Carriker and their children: Malia & Lea Mai, St Michaels, Minnesota; sister: Nora Jane (Frank) Mitchell, Nevada, Iowa; niece: Melanie (Justin) Moore & son Jackson, Webster City, Iowa; nephew: Matthew (Jennie) Mitchell and son Michael, Des Moines, Iowa; brother-in-law: Dennis (Melinda) McWilliams, Greene.

She is preceded in death by her father in 1990 and her mother in 2004.
