Roger Vote, 64, of Charles City, died Saturday, December 12, 2009, at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo following complications from surgery.

Roger Lee Vote was born January 3, 1945, at Fort Dodge, the son of Clarence and Evelyn (Erickson) Vote. He graduated from the Riceville High School in 1963. On November 25, 1967 he was united in marriage to Mary Mans at Goodhue, Minn. He worked many years for Iowa Drainage, Inc. of Sheffield.

Roger became one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1974 and shared his faith with others up to the day before his final hospitalization. He always looked forward to the times he could share his love and life with his family. Both he and Mary enjoyed entertaining at their home. Roger enjoyed playing golf, hunting, fishing and watching football.

Living family members include his wife, Mary of Charles City; five children, Michael (Beverly) Vote of Waterloo, Cindy (Demetrius) Robison of Rochester, Minn., Sherry (Adam) Madsen of Denver, Colo., Rebecca (Eric) Bolinski of Charles City, and Laura (Corey) Thomas of Charles City; four grandchildren, Ethan and Zachariah Vote, Kiana Robison and Baruch Bolinski; a sister, Anna (John) Padget of Waterloo; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and four brothers, Bernard, Merlyn, Clarence and Bruce Vote.
