Margaret Ann (Arndt) Brockney

CHARLES CITY, IOWA - Margaret A. Brockney, 63, of Charles City died Friday (Nov. 13, 2009) at Floyd County Medical Center in Charles City.

Funeral services for Margaret Brockney will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City. Pastor David Werges of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery at Riceville.

Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday. Visitation will continue Tuesday at the funeral home an hour prior to the service.

Margaret Ann Arndt Brockney was born May 29, 1946, in Howard County, Iowa, the daughter of Edward and Leona (Flugge) Arndt. She received her education at Charles City.

On April 5, 1975, she was united in marriage to Dale Brockney. They lived all their lives in Charles City. Over the years Margaret worked at the Charles City Locker and at Band Box Cleaners. She was a member of the Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church and the VFW Auxiliary. Her interests included playing bingo, camping, going to rummage sales and collecting eagles.

Margaret looked forward to sharing her life with the grandchildren, spending time with family and friends and visiting with Nicole's day care children.

Living family members include five children: Ronald, Jimmy, Darrell and Dawn Shaw and David (Nicole) Brockney of Charles City; several grandchildren, including Tyler and Hunter Brockney and special grandchildren Kylie and Kolbie Byers; a brother, James (Linda) Arndt of Charles City; and a sister, Avis (Leonard) Jarrett of Charles City.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, on April 30, 2008; and a brother, David Lee Arndt.
