NORA SPRINGS, IOWA - Hilda M. Huffstettler, 100 years old, of Nora Springs, died Monday (Feb. 25, 2008) at the Nora Springs Care Center.
A funeral service will be held for Hilda at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 29 at the Christian Church in Nora Springs with Pastor Donald Muessingmann officiating. Burial will be in the Park Cemetery in Nora Springs.
Visitation will be held from 5 until 7 p.m. on Thursday at the Sheckler-Colonial Chapel, 114 North Hawkeye, Nora Springs. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to service time on Friday at the church.
Hilda M. (Freese) Huffstettler was born on Dec. 18, 1907 the daughter of Edward and Maggie (Lange) Freese. She graduated from Mason City School and Normal Training School.
She was united in marriage to Dick Huffstettler on Dec. 21, 1926, at Webster City. He preceded her in death on March 17, 1955. The couple had two children, Jorretta Jean and Tommy Huffstettler who died on May 1, 1994 in Mason City.
The family lived and loved the Nora Springs area, and their entire married life was spent raising and loving their family. Hilda taught in rural schools and worked for many years in the grocery stores and cafe in Nora Springs. She was a faithful member of the Christian Church in Nora Springs.
Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Joretta Jean (Robert) Buehler of Garland, Texas; daughter-in-law Diane Floyd of Nashville, Tenn., four grandchildren, Janet (Steve) Alber of Garland, Texas, Greg (Tanya) Buehler and their two children, of Garland, Texas, Jesse Floyd, and Anitra (Bob) Methvin and their two children, all of Nashville, Tenn,; two step-great-grandchildren, Nancy (Jay) Johnson, and their two children, of Avoca, and Brad (Stephanie) Alber, and their two children of Des Moines.
Everyone in Hilda's life was very special to her - extended family members of Wayne Sellon and nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. All found a special place in her heart.
Her parents, husband, Dick, son, Tommy, two brothers, Ruben and Harold Freese, her sisters, Gladys Markwood and Florence Percy, preceded her in death.
The family of Hilda M. Huffstettler has requested that memorial contributions be made to the Christian Church in Nora Springs in her memory.
