OBITUARY: Lorous C. Shaw (1889-1966)

LAST RITES FOR LOROUS SHAW, 77,
HELD AT ST. ANSGAR

Lorous C. Shaw, 77, of St. Ansgar died Wednesday (April 28, 1966) of last week at the Good Samaritan center in St. Ansgar where he had been a resident the past year.

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at Schroeder and Houg Funeral Home here with the Rev. Lloyd E. Brockmeyer officiating.

Lorous C. Shaw was born March 3, 1889 at Sullivan, Ill. the son of Edward and Maggie Shaw.

On March 12, 1908 he was married to Lillie E. Cazel (Carol). He operated a farm near Olney, Illinois, until 1920 when he came to Iowa and settled in Floyd county, living there for about 20 years. His wife, Lillie died in 1934.

Mr. Shaw married Grace Stevens in 1942 and moved to a small farm near Connersville, Ind. After his wife's death he lived there alone about 10 years. The past year he had lived in St. Ansgar for a time with his daughter, Helen, and then he moved to the Good Samaritan Center.

Surviving are six children; Mrs. William (Mabel) Champion of Algona; Mrs. Ward (Helen) Champion of St. Ansgar; Carl Shaw of Battle Creek, Mich.; Fred Shaw of Chicago, Ill.; Glen Shaw, Orchard; Mrs. Russell (Maxine) Davey of Richmond, Calf.; also a sister Mrs. Goldie Hardy, Woodstock, Ill. and 25 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

Burial was in Riverside cemetery in Charles City with Rev. Brockmeyer in charge of the committal services.
