CHARLES CITY, IOWA - Rebecka Mae Hebert, 36, of Charles City, formerly of Thornton, died Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2009, at Floyd County Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, October 19, 2009, at Retz Funeral Home, Thornton, with the Rev. G. Kim Wills of Zion St. John Lutheran Church in Sheffield presiding. Interment will be at Pleasant View Cemetery, Thornton.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Retz Funeral Home, Thornton.

Rebecka Mae Buss was born Aug. 21, 1973, at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, a daughter of Larry Dean and Glenda Mae (Long) Buss. She was confirmed in the Lutheran church in Charles City at the same time as her mother and graduated from Hampton-Dumont High School in 1991. She attended college in both Iowa Falls and Mason City.

Rebecka married Casey James Hebert on Dec. 5, 1996. She worked as a manager at Taco Johns for the last several years.

Rebecka was a generous person who enjoyed being around people and helping others. She enjoyed swimming, dancing and playing with her dog, Gizmo. She recently joined a bowling league and thoroughly enjoyed the sport and camaraderie.

Her family includes her husband, Casey and daughter, Tawni, of Charles City; her parents, Larry and Glenda Buss, Mason City; sister, Julie (Mark) Melver, Elma; grandmother, Irene Buss, Mason City; uncles, Curtis (Victoria) Buss, Mason City, and Gordon (Carmen) Buss, Ridgeway, Amos (Ria) Long, Crocker, Mo.; aunt, Margaret (Bill) Zubrod, New Hampton; mother-in-law, Kathy Hebert, Cedar Falls; and sister-in-law and niece, Valerie Kofron and Zoe of Cedar Falls.

She was preceded in death by her uncle Gene Buss and one uncle in infancy; grandparents, Otto Buss and Amos and Eula Mae Long.
