Hulda was born on December 18, 1917, in Charles City, the daughter of Edward and Martha (Volbrecht) Togstad. She lived in Charles City most of her life, graduating from Charles City High School, where she met her future husband, Ben Lindaman. Hulda attended business school in Madison, Wis., for two years.

She was united in marriage to Ben on February 26, 1944, in Los Angeles, California, where he was stationed during World War II. After Ben's discharge from the Coast Guard, the couple moved back to Charles City. Hulda began working as a secretary at Lindemere Dairy, and then at White Farm for many years before retiring in 1980. Hulda was very active at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church where she had been a member of the Church Board and the Altar Guild. She was also involved in the Women's Club and played cards in a Bridge Club.

She also loved to sew and knit, making many wonderful creations for her family. In her later years, she became a big sports fan, mainly cheering on the teams in the cities where her children lived (Dallas Cowboys, Chicago Bears and the Iowa Hawkeyes). Most of all, Hulda's life revolved around her family, which provided her with much pride and joy.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Jim, Lynn (Anne) and Steve (Becky) Lindaman, and Viva (Bruce) Boerschel; grandchildren, Bob (Erin) Boerschel, Becky (Jeremy Bahe) Boerschel, Lauren Lindaman and Benton Lindaman; and great-grandchild, Kinleigh Bahe.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ben, in 1967; sisters, Lorna Cade and Jackie Olds; and her parents.
