Mrs. Marie Petersen Dies at 81

NORA SPRINGS, IOWA - Mrs. Marie Petersen, 81, mother of Mrs. Howard Barker, 743 2nd S.W., died Friday evening at a Mason City nursing home. She suffered a stroke August 25.

Mrs. Petersen was born March 11, 1876, in Husum, Germany. She came to the United States in 1899 and was married to Peter Petersen. They lived on a farm two miles west of Nora Springs in Portland Township, retiring in about 1928. For a number of years, Mrs. Petersen had lived in Nora Springs.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1936 and by one son in infancy and two brothers and two sisters.

Surviving are a son. Carl Petersen, who lives on the farm home at Norn Springs; five daughters, Marie Petersen, Seattle, Washington: Mrs. George (Joan) Lavery, Chicago; Mrs. Howard (Clara) Barker, Mason City; Mrs. Stanley (Dorothea) Olson, Framingham, Mass.; and Mrs. D. H. (Yvonne) Crabb, Chicago; and seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and two sisters in Germany.

Funeral services will be held al 2::tO p.m. Monday al St. Luke's Lutheran Church at Nora Springs. The Rev. Amedee Fredetta will officiate.

Burial will be in the cemetery at Nora Springs. The Scheckler Funeral Home, Nora Springs, is in charge.
