CHARLES CITY, IOWA -- Margaret B. Tower, 89, of El Cajon, Calif. and formerly of Charles City, died Friday (May 26, 1995) at the Sharp Grossmont Hospital, La Mesa, Calif., of a heart attack. Graveside commital services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Sunnyside Memory Gardens, rural Charles City, with the Rev. John G. Bissett, senior pastor, Trinity United Methodist Church, Charles City, officiating.
Fullerton Hage Funeral Home, 401 Blunt St., Charles City, is in charge of funeral arrangements.
Mrs. Tower, the former Margaret Bernice (nee) Wickham, was born April 7, 1906 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Arthur Wickham and Ami Zet (nee) Moore Wickham. She moved to Frederick, S.D., as a young child.
On January 26, 1928, in Aberdeen, S.D., she married Dale R. "Curley" Tower. The couple made their home in Charles City in 1929, when Mr. Tower came to work for the former Hart Parr Tractor Factory. Mr. Tower died Sept. 13, 1977, in Rochester, Minn.
Mrs. Tower moved to New Hampton shortly thereafter, and a year later, moved to El Cajon to live with her daughter. Mrs. Tower was a member of the former Rebekkah Lodge in Charles City.
Living family members include a daughter and her husband, Dalene and George Thompson of El Cajon, Calif.; two brothers, Charles Wickham of Seattle, Wash., and Robert Wickham of Searcy, Ariz.; a sister, Bertha Dotay of Ellendale, N.D.; a grandson, Dale Thompson of Oceanside, Calif.; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two brothers, Leonard Wickham and Raymond Wickham; and a granddaughter, Denise Thompson Bird.
