Retired Farmer Dies; Last Rites Thursday

CHARLES CITY, IOWA — Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2:30 p. m. at the First Methodist church, for Roy James Hillier, 67, former farmer and lifelong resident of this community, who died at 2 a. m. Tuesday at his home, 511 Fifth avenue. The Rev. James K. Delahooke, pastor, will officiate; and burial will be in Riverside cemetery.

Born at Charles City on January 26, 1883, he was the son of James and Persis Fish Hillier. On November 2, 1904, he was married to the former Alice Towner. The couple farmed south of Charles City until they came, to the city about 4 years ago. Mr. Hillier then worked for the W. F. Litterer stock yards until January, when ill health forced him to quit.

Survivors include his widow, three daughters: Mrs. Edith Horsley, Sumner, Iowa, Mrs. Mildred Carey, Charles City, Iowa, and Mrs. Marie Boyd, Greencastle, Indiana; and a son, James Hillier, Charles City; a brother, Guy E. Hillier, Cedar Rapids, Iowa; a sister, Mrs. Grace Grimm, Compton, California; an aunt, Mrs. Lillian Knechtges, Osage; and 11 grandchildren.
