James W. Krause

RUDD, IOWA -- James W. Krause, 69, of 208 Floyd St., died Saturday (Sept. 14, 1996) at North Iowa Mercy Health Center East Campus in Mason City.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Rudd United Methodist Church, 611 6th St., with the Rev. Deborah Stowers officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Sheckler Colonial Chapel, 114 N. Hawkeye, Nora Springs, and one hour prior to the services at the church on Tuesday.

James W. Krause was born Jan. 22, 1927, in Charles City, son of Wesley and Lottie (Dowd) Krause. He married Norma Stalker on Jan. 22, 1945, in Minnesota.

Jim grew up in the Rudd area and graduated from Rudd High School in 1945. He served in the Army during World War II. He farmed 16 years in the Rudd area and then went into partnership in the Rudd Lumber and Hardware Store for many years. For the past few years, he bought and sold antiques through his business known as "Jim's Junk."

Jim enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening. He was an avid sports fan and he enjoyed going to the dog races. Jim loved spending time with his grandchildren.

He was a member of Rudd United Methodist Church and the Rudd American Legion. He served on the Rudd City Council and the Floyd County Memorial Hospital board. He was a past member of the Lions Club.

Survivors include his wife, Norma Krause of Rudd; four daughters, Barbara Braun, and her husband, Jim, of Forest City, Brenda Krause of Nora Springs, Becky Michels, and her husband, Gary, of LeSueur, Minn., and Bonny Derr, and her husband, Harlan, of Rudd; seven grandchildren, Tamara Barnard and her husband, Randy, of New Virginia, Stacy Braun of Omaha, Neb., Michelle Braun of Cedar Falls, Jessica and Tricia Michels, both of LeSueur, Minn., and Christopher and Travis Derr, both of Rudd; one brother, Roger Krause, and his wife, Vera, of Rockford; one sister, Vivian Orr, and her husband, Morris, of Glenwood, Minn.; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Ruth Burlingham.
