NORA SPRINGS, IOWA -- Argo L. Mattison, 86, of 115 S. Hawkeye Ave., died Monday, Oct. 23, 1995, at North Iowa Mercy Health Center East, Mason City.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday at the United Methodist Church, 202 N. Hawkeye Ave., with the Rev. Richard L. Pippert officiating. Cremation will take place following services.

Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. until time of services Thursday at the church.

Memorials may be given to the United Methodist Church, Nora Springs, in memory of Argo.

Argo L. Mattison was born Nov. 11, 1908, at Long Prairie, Minn., a son of Ernest Mattison and Anne (nee) Petrie Mattison. He was a graduate of North High School, Minneapolis, Minn.

He married Ester R. Woods on Dec. 15, 1934, at the YWCA Chapel, Minneapolis, Minn. Argo was in the refrigeration and air conditioning business throughout the Midwest. He taught refrigeration/air conditioning at North Iowa Area Community College, Mason City, for 10 years, until retiring.

Argo was a member of the United Methodist Church of Nora Springs; Rock Sirius Lodge #294, Nora Springs; Harding Lodge #649, Mason City; United Association of Plumbers and Pipefitters; Refrigeration Service Engineers Society, where he received numerous awards for his expertise, including Man of the Year in 1976.

Survivors include, his wife, Ester Mattison of Nora Springs; one son, Jim Mattison and his wife, Susanne, of St. Louis Park, Minn.; two grandsons, Andrew and Daniel Mattison of both St. Louis Park, Minn.; three brothers, Kenneth Mattison of San Antonio, Texas; Lester Mattison of Bemidji, Minn., and Ervin Mattison of Plymouth, Minn.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Harry and Raymond; and one sister, Noreen.

Sheckler Colonial Chapel, 114 N. Hawkeye, is in charge of arrangements.
