NORA SPRINGS, IOWA - Gladys Waters, 90, formerly of 504 W. Main, Rockford, died Saturday (June 14, 2009) at the Nora Springs Care Center.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 17, at Holy Name Catholic Church, 507 First Ave. N.W., Rockford. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery, Rockford.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the church and again one hour prior to services. A Rosary will be said at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday followed by a parish wake service at 7.

Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the Gladys Waters memorial fund. Condolences may be shared with the family at www.Fullertonfh.com

ROCKFORD, IOWA -- Gladys Waters 90, formerly of 504 W. Main, Rockford, died Saturday afternoon, June 14, 2009 at the Nora Springs Care Center.

Father Craig Steimel of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mason City. Visitation will be from 4:00 until 8:00 pm Tuesday at the church and again one hour prior to services. A rosary will be said at 6:30 pm followed by a parish wake service at 7:00 on Tuesday. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery, Rockford. Gladys Josephine was born on November 28, 1918 in Rockford the daughter of Guy Markley and Ida Mary (O’Rourke) Biggs. She was one of ten children. She attended school in Rockford and lived her whole life in the Rockford area with a short time in Marble Rock and Nora Springs. Gladys was united in marriage at Holy Name Catholic Church to Clayton Waters on August 12, 1939. To this union was born five daughters. Gladys was always faithful and active in her church and trusted her decisions to God. She loved reading and being a member of Sr. Citizens.

Her pride and joy was in sharing and being with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. To each and every one of them she showed her love. A most memorable trip was to California with her grandson to visit. She went everywhere and even had the chance to meet Tom Cruise. As special hobbies she tended her plants and collected all types of chickens.

Those thankful in sharing Gladys’s life include her five daughters, Donna (James) Lind, Albia, IA; Sandra (Bill) Horning, Altoona, IA; Judy Kerchner, Shelby, Montana; Wanda Bill and her special friend Gregg Evans, Des Moines; Velda (Dewey) LeSuer, Mason City, surviving sisters Elma Dow, Nora Springs; Sylvia Pahl, Mason City; Evelyn (Don) Hogan, Dougherty; brothers Glenn (Donna) Biggs, Rockford, James (Bonnie) Biggs, Charles City; 12 Grandchildren, 35 Great Grandchildren, and 5 Great Great Grandchildren.

He husband in 1981, parents, brothers Henry, Robert, and Earl Biggs, and sister Irene Biggs, along with one granddaughter Kim Roberts and one grandson Cory LeSuer preceded her in death.
