CHARLES CITY, IOWA -- Claude W. Graham, 92, of Charles City, died on Wednesday morning, June 10, 2009, at the 9th Street Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City.
Funeral services for Claude Graham will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City. Pastor Gary Van Wert of the Trinity United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Sunnyside Memory Gardens, rural Charles City. Military Honors will be conducted by the Charles City Ceremonial Unit. Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City from 4-7 p.m. Monday. Visitation will continue an hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Tuesday.
Claude Willie Graham was born Dec. 24, 1916, at Bristow, the son of John and Minnie (Dickman) Graham. He attended the Greene High School.
On August 3, 1940, he was united in marriage to Wilma Jean Lewis at Powersville. From June 29, 1945 to July 16, 1946, he served in the United States Army. Claude farmed with his father until he was 18 years old and then spent two years in the C.C.C. in Hampton. Later he was employed at White Farm where he retired after 40 years. He was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, V.F.W. and the Midis Church Circle. His interests included spray painting with his sons, working, and spending time with his wife.
Living family members include his wife, Jean Graham of Charles City; three children, Claudia (Robert) Pine of Leland, N.C., James (Linda) Graham of Modesto, Calif. and John Graham of Des Plaines, Ill.; five grandchildren, Melissa (William) Alexander, Susan (David) Novais, Sarah Graham, Robert (Pamela) Pine, Paul Graham; five great-grandchildren, Kathryn Alexander, Shelby Alexander, Olivia Novais, Juliana Novais and Makena Pine; brother, Robert (Delores) Graham of Nashua; brother-in-law, Ronald Krueger of Zebulon, N.C.; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Helen Jenson and June Krueger; brother, John Graham, Jr.
