Thresa M. Beneke

MASON CITY, IOWA - Thresa M. Beneke, 95, of 302 Second St. N.E., died Tuesday, May 13, 1997, at the Good Shepherd Nursing Home.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., with the Rev. James B. Norem of St. Paul Lutheran Church, officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. There will be no visitation. The body was cremated. Memorials may be given to the Thresa M. Beneke Memorial Fund.

Thresa was born on December 7, 1901, at rural Nora Springs, daughter of Hans F. and Clara (Gratias) Jorgensen. She attended country school near Nora Springs and graduated from Mason City High School in 1920. Thresa was married to Edwin M. Beneke on June 10, 1925, at Mason City.

She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, and was active in Womens Circle at church, when she was able to be. She was a former member of the Mason City Camera Club and Garden Club. She enjoyed playing bridge.

She is survived by a sister, Mildred Hedgard of Plant City, Fla.; several nieces, nephews and cousins, including Art Gratias of Mason City.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin; one son, Robert; two sisters, Anna Cumming and Mabel Jorgensen; and brother, Alvin Jorgensen.
