BORN NEAR ROCKFORD

CHARLES CITY, IOWA - Donald Uker, 57, of 603 S. Jackson Ave., died on Thursday, May 1, 1997, at his home.

Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Hauser Funeral Home, Charles City, with the Rev. Dennis Niezwaag of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Charles City, Floyd county, Iowa.

Friends may call at the funeral home from noon to 9 p.m. Tuesday, where the family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Visitation will continue from 9 a.m. until service time on Wednesday.

The family suggests memorials be directed to the Donald Uker Memorial Fund.

Donald Eugene Uker was born Feb. 15, 1940, near Rockford.

Survivors include his wife, Karen Uker of Charles City; one daughter, Cheryl Bluhm of Charles City; a son, Kevin Uker of Tuscon, Ariz.; four grandchildren; one great-grandson; his parents, Merlyn and Viola Townsend of Belmond; a brother, Danny Uker of Osage; and two sisters, Janet Smith of Omaha, Neb., and Carol Steenblock of Belmond.

He was preceded in death by his father and a half-brother.
