MASON CITY, IOWA - Gail W. Kingsbury, 81, 35 23rd St. S.W., died Tuesday (April 15, 1997) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., with Dr. Judy Brutz, chaplain of Hospice of North Iowa, officiating. There will be flag folding rites by the Mason City Veterans Memorial Association. Burial will be in Elmwood-St.Joseph Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., and until time of services on Saturday. Memorials may be given to the Gail W. Kingsbury Memorial Fund.

Gail was born February 4, 1916, in Rudd, Floyd county, Iowa, the son of Glen and Violet (Henderson) Kingsbury. He graduated from Rudd High School then served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Gail was an inspector at McClellan Air Force Base, Sacramento, Calif., for 20 years, retiring in 1978. The Kingsburys moved to Mason City in 1980. Gail was a former member of the VFW and was a member of the Navy Alumni Association in Oklahoma.

Gail married Lorraine Kittleson on Dec. 27, 1982, in Atlantic.

Survivors include his wife, Lorraine Kingsbury of Mason City; three daughters, Karen Driscoll and her husband, Patrick of Prescott Valley, Ariz.; Barbara Lahmann and her husband, Allan, of Corvallis, Ore., and Bette Sue Safreed and her husband, Edward, of Winters, Calif.; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Merle Kingsbury and his wife, Alvina, of Mason City; stepchildren, Sandra Kay Johnson and her fiance, Kirk Svestka of Austin, Minn.; Terry Dean Williams and his wife, Betty, of Mason City; Bill Williams of Rockford; Carol Lorentzen and her husband, Robert, of Mason City; Michael Williams and his wife, Suzanne, of Tecumseh, Mich., and Tom E. Williams and his wife, Connie, of Sharpsville, Ind.; 16 stepgrandchildren; 23 stepgreat-grandchildren; and one stepgreat-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one grandson and one great-grandson.
