Raymond Lee Welp

NORA SPRINGS, Iowa - Raymond Lee Welp, 61, of 208 N. Greeley, died Monday (Feb. 24, 1997) at Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church, 202 N. Hawkeye, with the Rev. Richard Pippert and the Rev. John Bates officiating. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Sheckler Colonial Chapel, 114 N. Hawkeye, and one hour prior to services at the church on Friday. The family suggests that memorials be made to Hospice of North Iowa in memory of Raymond L. Welp.

Raymond Lee Welp was born Dec. 31, 1935, at Kamrar, the son of Henry and Marie (Fonken) Welp. He grew up in Kamrar, attending and graduating from Kamrar schools. He was a bus driver for Jefferson Bus Lines. Ray and his family moved to Nora Springs in 1974.

He was united in marriage to Susan Treloar on July 25, 1981, at Nora Springs. He was employed by Fast Food Merchandisers for 21 years, retiring in August of 1996. Ray loved race cars, camping and spending time with his grandkids.

Survivors include his wife, Susan Welp of Nora Springs; one son, Greg Welp and his wife, Gina, Ventura; one daughter, Lisa Halbur and her husband, Brian, Manning; two stepdaughters, Heather Conley, Nora Springs, and Elizabeth Conley, Janesville; one stepson, Cody Conley, Mason City; five grandchildren, McCayla and Morgan Welp, both of Ventura; Courtney and Kristina Halbur, both of Manning; and Ciara Conley, Mason City; one sister, LaVonne Draper and her husband, Keith, Webster City; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
