CHARLES CITY, IOWA - Dorothy E. Momberg Leitz, 73, 3518 28th St. N., St. Petersburg, Florida, and formerly of 600 S. Iowa St., died unexpectedly Sunday, February 23, 1997, at the Columbia Edward White Hospital, St. Petersburg, Florida, after suffering a massive heart attack.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Fullerton Hage Funeral Home, 401 Blunt St., with the Rev. Darwin Miller Jr. of the Temple Baptist Church officiating.

Friends may call from noon to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. and visitation will continue from 9 a.m. until service time on Friday morning.

Mrs. Momberg Leitz, the former Dorothy Elizabeth Wertin, was born June 4, 1923, in Malcom, the daughter of William Matthew and Elizabeth (Kilowitz) Wertin. She lived in several towns while she was growing up. In 1946, she graduated from Waukon High School in Waukon.

On June 21, 1947, in Charles City, she was united in marriage to Wayne Virgil Momberg. Mr. Momberg died on August 9, 1965, in Charles City.

Mrs. Momberg was a ward clerk, cook and general supervisor at the former Floyd County Care Facility. She was a former member of the First Baptist Church, Wa-Tan-Ye, Women of the Moose Chapter 1190 and the VFW Auxillary, all of Charles City.

Living family members include four children, Howard Iverson and Virginia (Mrs. Virgil) Park, all of Charles City; Gordon Momberg and Hazel (Mrs. James) Bradshaw, all of St. Petersburg, Fla.; two brothers and their wives, Ernest and Esther Wertin of St. Petersburg, Florida, and William and Mary Wertin of North Riverside, Illinois; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, George and Leo Wertin; and three sisters, Louise Wertin, Viola Nicholas and Maxine Savage.
