CHARLES CITY, IOWA - Rosie Funte, 81, of Charles City died Tuesday, March 17, 2009, at her home.

Funeral services for Rosie Funte will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Hauser Funeral Home, 1205 S. Main in Charles City. Pastor James Grabitske, of Cross Evangelical Lutheran Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Sunnyside Memory Gardens rural Charles City. Friends may call one hour prior to the service Friday at the Hauser Funeral Home.

Rosie Lee Parks Funte was born on September 2, 1927, at Hurley, Virginia, the daughter of Sam and Mae (Conley) Parks. She received her education at Hurley.

On October 16, 1948, she was united in marriage to Ray Funte at Danville, Ill. They lived in Charles City all their lives. She was a member of Cross Lutheran Church. Rosie enjoyed camping, fishing, working crossword puzzles and reading. Family was very important to Rosie and she always looked forward to sharing her life with them.

Living family members include two children, Raymond Funte of Osage and Betty Wolf of Charles City; seven grandchildren, Jason, Jonathan, Jamie, Melissa and Tracy Funte, and Ryan and Renita Wolf; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, Paul Parks of Charles City and Danny (Emily) Parks of Augusta, Georgia; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband on June 16, 1995; two sons, Freddie and Edward Funte; a great-grandson, Levi Sansgard; a sister, Georgia McClanhan; and three brothers, Dewey, Charles and Eckle Parks.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Cross Evangelical Lutheran Church, 312 First Ave. Charles City, IA 50616, or Hospice of North Iowa Charles City Site, 1003 Gilbert St., Charles City, IA 50616.
