NORA SPRINGS, IOWA — Lois M. Leininger, 87, of Nora Springs died Thursday (May 26, 2005) at the Nora Springs Care Center.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the St. Luke's Lutheran Church, 101 N. Hawkeye in Nora Springs, with Pastor Thomas Healey, St. James Lutheran Church of Mason City, officiating. Burial will be at the Park Cemetery in Nora Springs.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Sheckler Colonial Chapel, 114 N. Hawkeye in Nora Springs, and one hour prior to services on Saturday at the church.
Lois Marie Leininger was born on October 8, 1917, at Moingona, a daughter of Edgar and Louisa (Greene) Stoneburner. Lois attended school in Moin-gona.
She married Herbert E. Leininger on Dec. 4, 1938, at the Zion Lutheran Church, Ogden. The couple farmed in the Ogden area until 1957, when they moved to Nora Springs and farmed. Lois also volunteered at the Nora Springs Care Center. She loved helping people.
Lois enjoyed sewing, especially making drapes, reading, crossword puzzles, gardening, playing card games, fishing and cooking.
She was a member at the St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Nora Springs. She served on the church board and various circles at St. Luke's.
She will be greatly missed by her three children, Roger (JoAnne) Leininger, Nora Springs; Helen (Lee) Huber, Elk River, Minn.; and Doris (John) Schmitt, Clive; seven grandchildren, Stephen Leininger, Kristine Overturf, Jason Leininger, Jon Huber, Lisa Huber, Jeremy Kraninger, and Jennifer Owens; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Herbert in 1993; and four brothers and one sister.
