GRANTS PASS, OREGON — Wendell "Doc" Hobbs, 92, of Grants Pass, Ore., formerly of Rudd, Iowa, died Wednesday, March 23, 2005, in Grants Pass.

Memorial services were held Friday, March 25, at the Chapel of the Valley in Grants Pass.

Wendell was born March 3, 1913, in Charles City, Floyd county, Iowa, the son of Frank and Pearl Hobbs. He farmed in the Rudd area until 1960 and then moved to Arkansas for five years, continuing to farm. He lived in San Diego, Calif., for 14 years, raising cattle, and finally settled in Grants Pass in 1980.

Wendell and his wife, Jean, loved the Oregon climate. He raised pigs, fished and shot pool. He knew how to enjoy life and had quite a large trophy collection from his pool-playing days.

Wendell is survived by his son, Douglas Hobbs of Des Moines; two daughters, Charlotte Hill of Mason City and Andrea Campbell of Arkansas; grandchildren, Jeremy Hobbs, Tyler and Alex Bartholomew and Amari Ingram.

Wendell was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jean; and his son, Gale Hobbs.
