ROCKFORD, IOWA — A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 4, 2004, at the First United Methodist Church in Rockford, for Frances A. Batty and her husband, T. Edwward Batty, who preceded her in death on July 29, 2002. Pastor Kenneth Kent will be officiating.
Frances, 94, a resident of Chautauqua Guest Homes, Charles City, formerly of Rockford, died Sunday (Oct. 24, 2004) with her daughter-in-law by her side.
Frances was born Dec. 30, 1909, to M.D. and Nellie (Cox) Munshower. She graduated from Cornell College and was a homemaker all her life.
She was united in marriage June 17, 1937, to T. Edw Batty. They were parents of two sons, John T. Batty and Dennis R. Batty.
T. Edw was born to H.C. and Stella (Young) Batty on July 10, 1907. He graduated from the University of Iowa and was in banking for 42 years, serving as president of The First State Bank in Rockford until his retirement in 1975. They were life long members of the First United Methodist Church. Traveling, bowling, fishing, playing bridge and golf was enjoyed by both.
Survivors include their son, John T. Batty, Rockford; daughter-in-law, Mari Batty, West Liberty; three grandchildren and their spouses: Jeffrey C. Batty (Jennifer) Mount Pleasant; Jackie Gould (Rich), Glen Ellyn, Ill.; and Jason R. Batty (Amy), Johns-ton; six great-grandsons, Javin, Jared, and Colin Batty, Mount Pleasant; and Aidan, Damien and Owen Gould, Glen Ellyn, Ill.; and two great-granddaughters, Skylar and Brooke Batty, Johnston; Jean Fort, Lompoc, Calif.; a sister, Frances; and several nieces and nephews.
They are preceded in death by their youngest son, Dennis R. Batty (Dec. 2003), their parents; and brothers, Wilbur Munshower and Harry Batty.
Their bodies were cremated, with the Cremation Society of Eastern Iowa in charge of the arrangements, (319) 393-8000.
