MARIA J. WIENS

CHARLES CITY, IOWA — Maria Justina (Enns) Wiens, 84, of Charles City, died Thursday evening, (October 14, 2004) at the Salsbury Baptist Home, Charles City.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church, 105 Chapel Lane, Charles City, with the Rev. Ruth Yeaton officiating. A private interment will take place before the funeral service at Sunnyside Memory Gardens Cemetery, Charles City.

The family will greet friends from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Fullerton-Hage Funeral Home, 401 Blunt St., Charles City.

Maria was born April 10, 1920, in Mountain Lake, Minn. She was born to Dietrich and Justina (Walde) Enns. Maria married Reuben E. Wiens September 22, 1939. They had five children, thirteen grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. Reuben was a branch manager for Warren Transport.

Maria was a member of the First Baptist Church and was a member of the board for several years. She was also a member of the Woman’s Club of Charles City and the Woman’s Morning Club that met at McDonald’s. Maria had a great love for children and ran a daycare in her home for about ten years. She also helped the children in Awana’s. She enjoyed going to the Salsbury Baptist Home and help mend clothes for the residents. Maria was a member and took her turn at being treasurer for the Chat A Bit Club and Kodiak Circle.

Maria is survived by five children; Judy (Ron) Bormann of Charles City, Jim (Judy) Wiens of Blaine, Minn., Josie (Dick) Neal of Charles City, John (Gwen) Wiens of Brooklyn Park, Minn., and Joel (Wendy) Wiens of Excelsior, Minn.; thirteen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.

Maria was preceded in death by her husband, Reuben; her parents; a brother, Frank Enns; and a sister, Katherina Heppner.

Maria knew the Lord as her personal Savior and witnessed for the Lord frequently. She enjoyed her family and friends.
