MASON CITY, IOWA — Ellsworth B. Tevis, 73, of 20793 260th St., died Sunday (April 18, 2004) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit after a courageous fight battling a brain tumor.

A church worship service will be held in Ellsworth’s honor at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Remnant Seventh Day Adventist Church, Independent, 24 Third St. N.W., Nora Springs. His son, Dennis, will give the message. There will be no visitation. His body was cremated. The family will receive friends from 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday at their home. Memorials may be given to the Ellsworth B. Tevis Memorial Fund.

Ellsworth was born June 1, 1930, in Mason City, the son of Price and Esther (Bauer) Tevis. He graduated from Nora Springs High School.

Ellsworth married Mary C. Hanson Sept. 5, 1959, in Mason City. He was a long time farmer in the area and did carpentry work as well. He enjoyed helping his neighbors and friends. Ellsworth was an elder at the Remnant Seventh Day Adventist Church, Independent, in Nora Springs, since it was organized in 1986.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Tevis, of Mason City; two sons, Dennis Tevis and Douglas Tevis, both of Mason City; brother, Marlan Tevis, of Batavia, Illinois.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Evan “Jake.”
