ADELINE M. (WIRTZ) SPENCER
NORA SPRINGS, IOWA — Adeline M. Wirtz Spencer, 85, of 204 Second St., Nora Springs, died Sunday (April 11, 2004) at the Nora Springs Care Center.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Church of Christ in Fertile, with the Rev. Dennis Ganz officiating. Interment will be in the Elim Cemetery in Fertile. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel in Clear Lake, and then one hour before the service on Thursday at the church. The family suggests memorials to Hospice of North Iowa.
Adeline was born April 6, 1919, in West Bend, the daughter of Jacob and Anna (Loder) Wirtz. She attended school in West Bend.
She married Ellsworth Elmer Spencer in West Bend in 1941. They farmed in Iowa and Nebraska and when they retired, they moved north of Hanlontown. They later moved to Nora Springs to live. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Fertile, and the Christian Workers Women’s Group in Fertile.
Adeline is survived by her husband, Ellsworth, of Nora Springs; three sons, Stanley Spencer and his wife, Lisa, and Kurt Spencer and his wife, Sandy, both of Nora Springs, and Karry Spencer and his wife, Cindy, of Latimer; three daughters, Loni Knudson and her husband, Lloyd, of Fertile, Michelle Ingersoll and her husband, Bill, of East Moline, Ill., and Robyn McKie and her husband, Jim, of East Highland, Calif.; fifteen grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
Her parents, five brothers and four sisters preceded her in death.
