NORA SPRINGS, IOWA — William “Bill” Albertson, 87, of 22237 250th St., Nora Springs, died Thursday (April 8, 2004) at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa.

Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday at the United Methodist Church, 202 N. Hawkeye, Nora Springs, with the Rev. Jim Turner officiating. Burial will be at Park Cemetery, Nora Springs, with full military honors by the American Legion Post No. 449 of Nora Springs.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Sheckler Colonial Chapel, 114 N. Hawkeye, Nora Springs, and also one hour prior to the service at the church.

William L. Albertson, the son of William M. and Mabel (Bell) Albertson, was born Oct. 10, 1916, in Portland Township.

William served in the United States Army during World War II, was stationed in Kansas at a Prisoner of War Camp Service Command Unit, and earned a Good Conduct Medal.

He was united in marriage to Alta Dehann of Cawker City, Kan., on July 8, 1945, in Cheyenne, Wyo.

Bill farmed for most of his life and kept active up to the time of his death.

He kept informed of world events and liked to visit about them.

He also enjoyed watching sports, especially the Iowa Hawkeyes.

William will be greatly missed by three nieces, Joan Albertson, of Des Moines, Jane Yandell and her husband, Ray, of Gateway, Ark., and Dolores Bernemann and her husband, Larry, of Manly; one nephew, Harold Albertson Jr. and his wife, Marlene, of Urbandale; and several great- nieces and nephews.

William was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Alta; one sister, Margaret; two brothers, Harold and Leslie; and two sisters-in-law, Edna and Lydia.
