KENNETH ‘RED’ E. STILES
CHARLES CITY, IOWA — Kenneth “Red” E. Stiles, 78, passed away Sunday (Jan. 25, 2004) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. today at The Rudd United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Jim Turner officiating. Inurnment will be in Sunnyside Memory Gardens, rural Charles City, with military rites conducted by the Charles City Ceremonial Unit.
Kenneth “Red” E. Stiles was born Jan. 14, 1926, at Rudd, to William E. and Ruth (Wagner) Stiles. Red graduated from Rudd High School.
On Dec. 13, 1945, he was united in marriage to Grace Edna Hennick in Austin, Minn. Kenneth served in the U.S. Army during World War II, being honorably discharged as a Spec.-Sgt.
Kenneth was a lifetime resident of Rudd, being self-employed all his life as a farmer, owner and operator of Rudd Lumber and Hardware and Stiles Corp. Construction until his retirement in 2000.
Kenneth belonged to The United Methodist Church of Rudd, the American Legion, and Lions.
He is survived by his wife and friend of 59 years, Grace; three sons, William B. (Michelle), of Trauco Canyon, Calif., Randall Lee (Kathy) of Rockwell, and Michael (Jackie) of Rudd; one daughter, Sue A. (Stephen) Lockwood, of Pompano, Fla.; one brother, Leland (Beverly) Stiles, of Graettinger; two sisters, Betty Laudner, of Santee, Calif., and Dorothy (Doyle) Newton, of Moline, Ill.; three sisters-in-law, Marge Stiles, Geraldine Stiles, and Jo Stiles; eight grandchildren, Tamara (Todd) Choate, of Lake Forest, Calif., Ashley, Jared, and Jordan Stiles, of Rockwell, Erin Lockwood, of Pompano Beach, Fla., Joseph Peters, of Floyd, and Matthew and Allison Stiles, of Rudd; a great-granddaughter, Robin Burgin, of Lake Forest, Calif.
He was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth “Kenny” Jr.; and his parents; three brothers, Keith, Boyd and Eldon Stiles; two sisters, Lois Johannson and Arlee Miller.
Memorials may be directed to the Charities of Choice.
