MASON CITY, IOWA - Florence E. Luecht, 93, of 302 Second St. N.E., died on Thursday, February 12, 2009, at Good Shepherd Health Center.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 16, 2009, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 213 N. Pennsylvania Ave., with Pastor Kathy Graves officiating. Interment will be in Park Cemetery, Nora Springs. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave.

Memorials may be directed to the Florence E. Luecht Memorial Fund.

Florence was born April 29, 1915, in LeRoy, Mower county, Minnesota, the daughter of Johannes and Nettie (Engelson) Orke. Florence graduated from LeRoy High School and Winona State College, Winona, Minnesota.

She married Gerhard Luecht Oct. 28, 1940, in Montezuma, Iowa. Florence taught school in Riceville and Plymouth, Iowa, for several years. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, the Red Cross Gray Ladies and she enjoyed doing Norwegian needlepoint.

Florence is survived by her children, Sara Kahl and husband, James, of Santa Cruz, Calif., Amy Dodge and husband, John, of Mason City, Jane DeBoe and husband, David, of Forest City, and Joel Luecht of Paris, France; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Florence was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Gerhard; son, Paul; brother, Norris Orke; and sister, Selma Watson.
