NORA SPRINGS, IOWA — Louise Marie Rosenkrans, 97, of the Nora Springs Care Center in Nora Springs, passed to heaven on Dec. 13, 2003, following hip repair surgery.
Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church 101 N. Hawkeye, Nora Springs. Burial will be at the Garden of Memories Cemetery, Waterloo.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of services at the church.
Memorials may be left to Hospice of North Iowa, 232 Second St. S.E. Mason City, IA 50401.
Louise was born April 21, 1906, (on the very day of the Great San Francisco earthquake) and raised in the Bethel, Minnesota, area. Upon completion of her schooling, she relocated to Chicago, Ill., meeting Russell Roy Rosenkrans. They wed in 1925, and produced two daughters, Jean and Jerri. The family moved to Waterloo, Iowa, in 1935, where they owned and operated Radio Doctor and Rosenkrans Electronics for four decades.
Louise was active in the Kappa Nu sorority and bowling leagues in Waterloo, Iowa. She had since continued to enjoy sharing in the lives of her loved ones, while living in Santa Barbara, Calif., and Des Moines.
Louise also enjoyed card games, Yahtzee, Las Vegas trips, Bingo, and in the last 11 months, the many activities at the Nora Springs Care Center.
Left to cherish her memory are daughters, Jean Furino of Santa Barbara, Calif. and F. Geraldine “Jerri” Clark of Des Moines; grandchildren, Joseph Michael Furino of Arroyo Grande, Calif., Donald Barnes Clark, II and wife, Kathy, of Urbandale, and Cathryn Louise (Clark) Luett and husband Dave of Nora Springs; and great-grandchild, Dylana Marie Luett of Nora Springs.
She was preceded in death by her parents, August and Augusta Westphal; her seven siblings, husband Russell in 1961; and son-in-law Joseph W. Furino in 2003.
She will be lovingly remembered by her family, and by friends made in the past 11 months at the Nora Springs Care Center.
