ROCKFORD, IOWA - Helene Vala Reetz, 86, died on Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2002, at the Providence Mount St. Vincent Home in Seattle, Wash.

Mrs. Reetz was born in Rockford, the daughter of Frank Vala and Katherine Kingsfield Vala.

Helene and her husband, Ray, farmed near Rockford from 1939 until 1969, when they moved to Denver, Colorado.

Mrs. Reetz worked as a registered nurse for Dr. Russel Knight in Rockford, for the Floyd County Hospital and for Mercy Hospital in Mason City.

She was active in the Archdiocesan Council of Catholic Nurses.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, John and Tom; and by her husband, Ray.

Family members surviving Helene Reetz include a son, John Reetz and his wife, Barbara, and children, Anthony and Jenny Reetz, 3716 36th Ave. S.W. Seattle, Washington; a sister, Eileen Neenan and husband, Tom, of Center Point, Iowa; a sister-in-law, Evelyn Vala, of Rockford, and many nieces and nephews.
