CHARLES CITY, IOWA - Doris Kranz, 89, of Charles City passed away Wednesday (Feb. 4, 2009) at the Floyd County Medical Center in Charles City.
A funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 6, at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, 200 S. Main St. in Charles City, with the Rev. David Werges officiating. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery.
A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. today, Feb. 5, at Fullerton Funeral Home, 401 Blunt St. in Charles City, and one hour prior to the service at the church.

Doris was born on Aug. 17, 1919, in Mason City, the daughter of August and Minnie (Gullickson) Hahn. She lived in Charles City her entire life. She graduated from Charles City High School in 1937. Doris was employed at Cedar Valley Hospital in housekeeping for seven years. She was united in marriage to Harold "Ole" Kranz on March 23, 1946.
Doris was a member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church. She was also involved in many senior citizen groups, the Pythian Sisters and the Dorcas Circle.
She loved going on car trips with her husband, including their annual trip along the Mississippi River to see the leaves changing color. She also enjoyed playing cards and spending time at McDonald's with her friends.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter-in-law, Barbara Kranz of Osage; sister-in-law, Betty Kelleher of Nashua; nieces, Karen Olson of Marengo and Becky Schmidt of Nashua; nephews, David Hahn of Chehalis, Wash., and Douglas Hahn of Mason City; and her lifelong friend, Mid Meade.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Harold in 1989; a son, Richard, in 1995; and brothers, Erwin and Leland Hahn.
