Clausine Ebding, 101, formerly of 305 5th Ave., Charles City, died Thursday afternoon, November 13, 2003, at the Salsbury Baptist Home in Charles City.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, 200 S. Main St., Charles City with the Rev. Dennis Niezwaag officiating. Burial will follow at Sunnyside Memory Gardens.

The family will greet friends from 3 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, November 16, 2003, at Fullerton-Hage Funeral Home, 401 Blunt St., Charles City and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.

Clausine Ebding was born November 8, 1902 in Riverton Township, Floyd County, the daughter of Wilhelm and Fekedine (Borchers) Schroeder. Clausine was baptized as a child and confirmed as an adult at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Charles City. She completed her 8th grade education in rural school.

Clausine worked on her parent's farm. She also helped her two married sisters, Lizzie and Martha. It was in September of 1921 that she met William Ebding. Dating and romance began. One year later on September 20, 1922, Clausine and Will were married at her parent's home in Riverton Township. They began their married life on a farm four miles northwest of Nashua. One year later on September 20, 1923, a daughter, Wilma was born.

In 1929, they purchased a farm just south of there and remained living and farming at that location until 1944 when they purchased a home on 5th Avenue in Charles City. Clausine continued to live in this home until 1996 when she moved to the assisted living quarters at Salsbury Baptist Home. Following a stroke, she was moved to the full care unit.

Clausine was an independent woman who desired to care for herself. The nurses at the home lovingly called her the "Energizer Bunny" as she would bounce back after several illnesses and was determined to do things again for herself. She was a member of the St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Ladies Aid, Central Star Club and Senior Center.

She is survived by her daughter, Wilma Beck of Nashua; four grandchildren, Myrna (Don) Greene of Sun Lakes, Ariz., Jeanne (Gary) Olson of Nashua, Charles (Kathy) Beck of Zumbrota, Minn., Robert (Joyce) Beck of Nashua; seven great-grandchildren, Michelle (Joe) Gribben, Eric (Kim) Olson, Brad (Andie) Olson, Jason (and friend, Julie) Beck, Doug (Megan) Beck, Michael (Rachel) Beck and Travis Beck; seven great-great grandchildren, Amanda and Matthew Gribben, Kalie and Kacey Olson, Drew and Rylie Olson and Gabriel Beck.

Clausine is preceded in death by her husband, William Ebding in 1984; her parents; two brothers, Henry and Claus Schroeder; three sisters, Lizzie Bahlmann, Martha Bierschenk and Jennie Beekman; and her son-in-law, Johnnie Beck.
