Bernice Kloster, 74, of 405 5th Ave., Charles City, Iowa, died on Tuesday afternoon, November 25, 2003, at the Mercy Medical Center of North Iowa in Mason City, Cerro Gordo county, Iowa.

A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 29, 2003, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 106 Chapel Lane in Charles City, with Rev. Carl Reis officiating. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Charles City. The family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, November 28, 2003, the rosary will be recited at 5 p.m. and the vigil wake service at 7 p.m. at Fullerton-Hage Funeral Home, 401 Blunt St., Charles City, and the visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday. Those wishing to extend memorials or expressions of sympathy may direct them to the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Charles City, for special remembrance masses.

Bernice Rose Mary Kloster was born April 5, 1929, in rural Chickasaw County, the daughter of Frank and Clara (Brincks) Franzen. Bernice attended school in Chickasaw County. On July 6, 1949, Bernice was united in marriage to Raymond F. Kloster in St. Joseph's Catholic Church at New Hampton. She will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her.

Bernice was dedicated and devoted to her faith, she was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Charles City. She was active in the Rosary Society, the Sacred Heart Guild and the St. Rose Church Circle. Some of Bernice's interest and leisure activities included cooking and polka music. She will be best remembered for being a kind and nurturing mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

Those grateful for having had the privilege of sharing in her life are her children, Patsy Hoffman and her husband, Charles of Charles City; James Kloster and his wife, Nicoletta of New Hampton; Robert Kloster and his special friend, Neta Rae White of Charles City; Mary Jane Justus and her husband, Wesley of Postville; Judy Kloster of Fond Du Lac, Wisc.; Clare Grober and her husband, Leon of Alta Vista, Iowa; Gary Kloster and his wife, Rae Sue of Charles City; Debra Mettner and her husband, James of New Hampton; Madonna Kloster of Charles City and Michael Kloster of Charles City; 14 grandchildren; one great granddaughter; her sister, Theresa Berst of New Hampton and she is also survived by her sisters-in-law, other family and friends.

Preceding Bernice in death are her husband, Raymond F. Kloster on November 26, 1995; her parents; two infant children; a granddaughter, Amanda Kloster; a grandson, Shad Kloster and six sisters and brothers.
